Good – Excellent

The Amazon Prime Visa Card has great benefits for people who are avid Amazon shoppers. The card is offered through Chase Bank, and there is no annual fee. With the Amazon Prime card, you earn 5% at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh , Whole Foods Market and on Chase Travel purchases, 2% cash back on gas stations, restaurants and on local transit and commuting, 1% cash back on all other purchases.

While the card doesn't have an annual fee itself, it requires an Amazon Prime membership, currently priced at $139 per year, which could be a deterrent for those who don't regularly shop at Amazon or use other Prime services. The welcome offer includes a $100 Amazon gift card upon approval, exclusive to Prime members.

The card comes with additional perks such as the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection, concierge service, and various travel and purchase protections, making it a versatile option for those who value these benefits.

However, you have to be an Amazon Prime member to hold the Amazon Prime Visa  Card, which has an annual fee of $139.  Also, it lacks the ability to transfer rewards points to other programs, limiting redemption options.

What’s the initial credit limit I'll get?

The Amazon Prime Rewards card has a minimum initial credit limit of $500. The exact amount can be much higher but it mainly depends on your credit score.

Can you get pre-approved?

There is no pre-approval option for the Amazon Prime Rewards card. This means that you’ll need to complete a full application and this will trigger a hard pull on your credit.

What are the card income requirements?

You’ll need good to excellent credit for the Amazon Prime Rewards card. Although your income will be one of the factors assessed during your application, your credit score will be a more important consideration

What's the main reason to skip the Amazon card?

The top reason not to get the Amazon Prime Rewards card is that you don’t tend to spend a lot with Amazon or Whole Foods.

What is the card customer service availability?

Chase is the issuer of Amazon card and it offer numerous contact methods, so you should be able to access the customer service team 24/7.

When you sign up for the Prime Visa Card, you receive a $100 Amazon gift card upon approval.

Not a fantastic sign-up bonus when compared to other major credit cards, but because the Prime Visa Card is geared towards frequent Amazon buyers, this sign-up bonus could be a great incentive for some people.

Cardholders gain access to Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection, concierge service, and various travel and purchase protections, enhancing the overall cardholder experience.

The Prime Visa Card offers an excellent 5% at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh , Whole Foods Market and on Chase Travel purchases, 2% cash back on gas stations, restaurants and on local transit and commuting, 1% cash back on all other purchases.

A cash back rate is fantastic for devoted Amazon users.

The card doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, making it a cost-effective choice for international travelers.

The card requires an Amazon Prime membership, priced at $139 per year, potentially deterring users who don't regularly shop at Amazon or use other Prime services.

Even though Chase Bank provides the Amazon Prime Visa Card, cardholders cannot transfer rewards points to other programs or portals, limiting their options for redemption compared to some other rewards cards.

The card does have a higher than normal balance transfer, which is $5 or 5%, whichever is greater.

Despite being a Chase credit card, users cannot access Chase Offers or Chase Ultimate Rewards portals, limiting additional benefits available with other Chase cards.

How It Compared To Other Online Shopping Credit Cards?

The Amazon Prime Visa Card stands out among other online shopping credit cards, offering unique benefits and drawbacks in comparison to competitors like Target, Macy's, Costco, Walmart, and Sam's Club.

In contrast to the Amazon Prime Visa Card's broad rewards structure covering Amazon and Whole Foods purchases, the Target RedCard is more focused, providing a straightforward 5% discount on Target purchases. However, its scope is limited to Target, making it less versatile for general spending.

Macy's Star Rewards Credit Card caters specifically to Macy's shoppers, offering tiered rewards based on annual spending. While it provides flexibility in Macy's stores, its limited scope may be less appealing for those who shop across various retailers.

The Costco Anywhere Visa Card, exclusive to Costco members, is renowned for its generous cash back rewards, offers 4% cash back on on eligible gas and EV charging purchases for the first $7,000 per year and then 1% thereafter, 3% cash back on restaurants and most travel purchases, 2% cash back at Costco and Costco.com, 1% cash back on all other purchases. However, its usefulness is constrained to Costco-related expenditures.

Walmart's Capital One Walmart Rewards Card, on the other hand, offers a tiered rewards system, including 5% cash back at Walmart.com (including pickup and delivery), 2% cash back in Walmart stores and gas stations, at restaurants and on travel plus 1% cash back everywhere else Mastercard is accepted. This card's broad acceptance and the flexibility to redeem rewards on Walmart.com make it appealing for regular Walmart shoppers.

Is the Amazon Prime Visa Right for You?

The Prime Visa Card is about as good as it gets when it comes to co-branded credit cards. Cardholders with prime memberships will certainly see the value since they are already avid Amazon users.

For many people, the higher cash back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases on top of the other rewards on purchase will truly just be a bonus.

Weighing in the fact that the card doesn’t have 0% intro APR and carries higher balance transfer fees than normal, some people might not see the value, as these might be must haves for people looking for a new credit card. With this being said, this card might be as good as it gets for Amazon fans.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
