The Amex Everyday card offers 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers from the date of account opening (then APR of 18.24% – 28.24% Variable will apply).

While the card's rewards potential is decent, it may not compete with higher-tier Amex cards or other premium options.

Are there foreign transaction fees with this card?

Yes, the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card charges a 2.7% foreign transaction fee.

Cardholders can earn Membership Rewards points, which can be valuable when redeemed for travel or other eligible charges.

American Express Everyday Card has a 2.7% fee for each transaction in another country. If you are traveling outside of the US, you may want to leave this card at home.

The $6,000 annual spending cap on bonus points at U.S. supermarkets may limit potential rewards for high spenders in this category.

What Can I Do With My Points?

American Express strives to make it as simple as possible to redeem your card rewards. You can check your points balance at any time by logging into your account. You can also use the membership rewards website to learn about all of your available rewards.

In general, each point is worth up to $0.016, but this will vary depending on whether you choose merchandise, gift cards, entertainment options, or premium travel:

  • Statement credit or direct deposit: There is no minimum for redeeming your rewards in this manner, and direct deposits are accepted by the majority of US checking and savings accounts.
  • Amazon: When you link your card to your Amazon account, you can use your rewards to pay for all or part of eligible Amazon.com orders.
  • Gift cards: Amex offers a wide range of gift card options, including those for dining, entertainment, and shopping.
  • Travel benefits. You can use the American express membership platform to get low prices on travel products such as rental cars, hotel stays and flights.

After selecting your reward, you have two redemption options:

  • Click on the reward: Once you've decided on a reward, click on it and follow the website's instructions to complete the redemption.
  • Call: You can call American Express's toll-free number and an agent will walk you through the process.

Make the Best of Your Everyday Card

Here are some pointers to help you make the most of your Amex Everyday:

  • Leverage Welcome Bonus: If you meet the introductory spend requirement, you'll receive a nice welcome bonus. As a result, make certain that you meet this spending requirement.
  • Pay for your rental cars: You can use your credit card to reserve and pay for rental cars. This will provide additional insurance coverage against damage and theft. Other American Express cards are also excellent choices for rental car insurance cards.
  • Visit American Express Experiences: If you enjoy attending concerts, sporting events, and shows, you should check out this platform for exclusive access to ticket presales.

Next, read through the Terms and conditions and approve them.

There are other credit cards that do offer comparable cash back rewards – we’ve summarized the most popular cards which can use as an alternative to the American Express Everyday card:

How It Compared To Other Amex Basic Cards?

When compared to other basic cards like the Blue Cash Preferred® Card, the Amex EveryDay® stands out for its points-boosting potential and no annual fee, but lower rewards rate and fewer bonus categories.

The Blue Cash Everyday®, on the other hand, and also has no annual fee and emphasizes cash back, particularly with its 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets. However, it lacks an access to the Amex membership program.

Naturally, the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card may not match the extensive perks of premium Amex cards like the Platinum Card® from American Express or the American Express Gold Card.

Is the Amex Everyday Card Right for You?

American Express Everyday Card offers average rewards and bonuses for cardholders. The biggest advantage of the American Express EveryDay card is the introductory rate of 0% APR with no transfer fee.  Those who are wanting to pay down their credit card debt can open up an American Express EveryDay card and transfer their balance without a fee and help them pay down that debt.

For consumers looking for a strong rewards card there are other cards out there that offer better points or cashback rewards – but you’ll probably have to pay an annual fee. This card is good for consumers who spend on supermarkets and spend over $100 a week there.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
