Good - Excellent

The Barclays JetBlue Plus Credit Card is a solid choice for JetBlue loyalists or occasional flyers, offering a range of benefits that can outweigh its $99 annual fee.

The card's point rewards ratio is very good compared to other cards with 6X points on JetBlue purchases, 2X points at restaurants and grocery stores and 1X points on all other purchases, while JetBlue point value estimated in 1.4 cents per point, higher than Delta (1.3 cents ), or United (1.2 cents ).

Cardholders earn 0% intro APR for 12 billing cycles on balance transfers and an opportunity to earn Mosaic status by spending $50,000 annually, offering benefits like free cancellations, free checked bags, and early boarding. Additionally, cardholders receive a free checked bag, a $100 statement credit for JetBlue Vacations packages, and a 5,000-point bonus every year on their account anniversary.

However, the card's usefulness depends on your proximity to JetBlue hubs, as the airline's coverage is not as extensive as larger competitors. Also, it may not be the best fit for those seeking flexible redemption options or those who prefer to fly different airlines. For those looking to avoid the annual fee, there's a $0-annual-fee version called the JetBlue Card, though it lacks some premium perks.

What is the Initial Credit Limit?

The JetBlue Plus card has a minimum initial credit limit of $1,500. The exact amount will be determined based on your income.

How Much are 10,000 Miles or Points Worth?

JetBlue points have a value of 1 cent to 1.5 cents per point, depending on the current flight cash values. This means that if you have 10,000 JetBlue points, they could be worth $100 to $150.

When you should move to the Jet Card?

Considering the card requires good or excellent credit, there are other travel cards that do offer more benefits. However, if you are looking for a card that offers points for purchases other than airline purchases, these cards could provide a good option.

Does the Card Insurance Cover Flight Cancellation?

The JetPlus card doesn't offer trip interruption, cancellation or delay insurance, so even if you book your flights with your card, if your flight is canceled, you’ll need to cover any unreimbursed charges.

When you should skip it?

The top reason not to get these cards is the limited benefits package. There are other travel cards available that offer far greater benefits, with similar credit requirements that you may want to consider.

Pros & Cons

Let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of the JetBlue Plus Credit Card:

Pros
Cons
Anniversary Bonus
Annual Fee
$100 Annual Statement Credit
Limited JetBlue Footprint
Checked Bags
Confusing Redemption
In-Flight Purchase Discount
No Foreign Transaction Fees
Opportunity for Mosaic Elite Status

Every year on your account anniversary, you'll receive a 5,000 point bonus.

If you purchase a JetBlue Vacations package worth $100 or more, you will receive a $100 statement credit each year.

Cardholders enjoy a complimentary first checked bag for themselves and up to three travel companions, translating to potential savings of $140 for a round-trip journey for a family of four.

You will receive a 50% discount on eligible in-flight food and beverage purchases.

There are no foreign transaction fees with the JetBlue Plus card.

Cardholders have the rare opportunity to earn Mosaic status by spending $50,000 annually, unlocking premium benefits such as free cancellations, free checked bags, and early boarding privileges.

There is a $99 annual fee. The annual fee that is not waived for the first year.

While JetBlue is a growing airline, it only has a larger footprint in the United States, Central America, and the Caribbean.

This means that if you don't live near a JetBlue hub, you'll have to take connecting flights, effectively nullifying the benefits of your card.

JetBlue does not publish award charts that show how many points are required for specific routes, limiting redemption maximization options.

This makes it more difficult to find the best possible deals because the number of points required fluctuates.

How to Get the Most Out of Your JetBlue Plus?

There are a couple of things you can do to get the most out of your JetBlue plus card:

  • Check the desktop for the best deals: While the JetBlue app is simple to use, it only allows you to perform basic fare searches. So, if you want to find the best flight deals, go to the main website and use the “Best Fare Finder” tool. This allows you to compare prices for different days and months at the same time. So, if you can be flexible with your travel dates, you could save thousands of points.
  • Upgrades: While JetBlue has a reputation for being a low-cost carrier, you can use your points to upgrade with Mint products. Mint has premium amenities such as lie flat beds, delicious food, and plush bedding.
  • Pool Points: JetBlue's airline reward program is one of the few that allows you to combine points with friends and family. You can set up a pool account with up to seven people, which means you can share miles to cover your flights without paying transfer or processing fees. Just keep in mind that everyone in the pool has access to the points, so only pool with people you can trust.

The JetBlue Plus Card offers various redemption options for its TrueBlue points, providing cardholders with flexibility in utilizing their earned rewards. Here are some of the key redemption options:

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
