While the Chase Disney Visa card may not offer the most generous rewards, it is a good pick for the ultimate Disney fans. Not only can you accumulate Disney Reward Dollars, but you can get discounts and access to exclusive events or promotions. You can even choose your card design from 10 options including classic Disney and modern favorites like the Mandalorian.

However, if you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck to save rewards for your next Disney vacation, you are likely to find that there are general rewards credit cards that offer far more points or cash back with each purchase. Some tiered category reward cards offer up to five points per dollar, so you can strategically plan your spending and get great rewards on all or most of your purchases.

  • Exclusive Access to Disney Experiences
  • Disney Store Cardmember Events
  • Discount on Disney on Broadway Shows
  • 0% APR for Six Months for Disney Vacations
  • 10% Discount on Disney Store Purchases
  • Complimentary DashPass
  • Choice of Card Designs
  • Below Average Rewards Rate
  • Low Welcome Bonus
  • Limited Redemptions
  • Foreign Transaction Fee
  • No Bonus Rewards

What are card income requirements?

There are no official income requirements for this card, but you do need to have good to excellent credit. While income is a consideration, it is not the only factor that Chase will assess on your application.

Can I get pre-approved?

Chase does typically offer pre approval for its credit cards. You can log in as a customer or as a guest to check if you would qualify for the card. You may also receive a mailer with a pre approval offer.

How do I redeem rewards?

The redemption process is a little complicated as you need to get a reloadable redemption card. You can obtain this by visiting the DisneyRewards website or calling the customer helpline. You can then transfer your Disney Rewards Dollars to your card. You can have up to two redemption cards per account.

The first transfer requires a minimum of 20 Rewards Dollars and subsequent transfers have a 10 Rewards Dollar minimum. Once your transfer has been processed to your redemption card, you can use them at Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts.

You can also use them at Disney Stores, on Disney Cruise Lines and to pay for Disney, Star Wars or Pixar movies at AMC Theater locations.

Pros and Cons

Just like any other credit card, the Disney credit card has some advantages and disadvantages:

Pros
Cons
Exclusive Access to Disney Experiences
Below Average Rewards Rate
Disney Store Cardmember Events
Low Welcome Bonus
Discount on Disney on Broadway Shows
Limited Redemptions
0% APR for Six Months for Disney Vacations
Foreign Transaction Fee
10% Discount on Disney Store Purchases
No Bonus Rewards
Complimentary DashPass
Choice of Card Designs

This includes special photo opportunities with Star Wars and Disney characters at private locations at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

This ìs limited to one session with characters per day, per cardholder, but it does include complimentary download of the photos.

As a cardmember, you can also enjoy special events at Disney store locations throughout the U.S. The passes are issued on a first come, first served basis, as the numbers are limited according to store capacity. Only one pass per card member is allowed.

You can get a VIP package when you purchase premium tickets to select Disney on Broadway shows.

When you book select Disney vacation packages on your card, you can enjoy a 0% APR promotional rate for six months.

When you use your Disney Visa card to purchase select items at Disney Stores, you can receive 10% savings. There is also 10% off select merchandise at select Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts locations.

As a new card holder, you will receive a one year DoorDash DashPass for free. This provides unlimited deliveries with no delivery fees and lower service fees on eligible DoorDash and Caviar orders.

You can make a choice from a selection of 10 different Disney themed card designs for your new credit card. This includes Vintage Mickey, Sleeping Beauty Castle, Darth Vader, Toy Story and The Mandalorian.

The reward rate of 1% for this card is far lower compared to many general flat rate cash back cards available on the market. There are a number of cards offering up to 2%, with some tiered category reward cards offering up to 5%.

If you want comparable rewards, you would need to upgrade to the Disney Premier Visa, which has an annual fee and offers up to 5% in Disney Rewards.

While the spending requirement is low, the welcome bonus is only $150 in statement credit. There are many other no annual fee credit cards that have a far more generous welcome bonus.

You can only redeem Disney Rewards Dollars for Star Wars or Disney purchases. The redemption process is quite complex and your rewards will expire after five years.

Unusually for a travel related card, the Disney Visa has a 3% foreign transaction fee. While this is a fairly standard fee, it can add up to significant charges when you’re on a vacation.

Although you can earn an unlimited 1% on your purchases, there are no bonus reward categories to increase your reward potential.

Who Should Consider The Disney Card?

This card is obviously a good option for keen Disney fans who regularly visit Disney resorts and stores. You can not only earn discounts on select purchases, but you can accumulate Disney Reward Dollars that you can use on your next vacation package. As an added bonus, you can get 0% APR financing for select Disney vacations when you pay with your card.

The card could also be a good fit if you aspire to enjoy a Disney vacation. The card has no annual fee and you can accumulate Disney rewards with up to five years before the rewards expire. This can be a great way to enjoy a discount on your vacation.

However, it is a good idea to compare the benefits of more general travel credit cards to check if this card offers the best reward options.

How To Maximize Card Benefits: Tips

This card is fairly straightforward, but there are a couple of tips that can help you to get the best from it. These include:

Planning a vacation can be tricky, but make sure that you make time to visit the exclusive events each time that you visit a Disney park. You can get some great photos with Disney or Star Wars characters, which is a must for any Disney fan.

If you’re shopping for merchandise, make sure that a Disney store is your first stop. You’ll get discounts on select merchandise to get even greater value.

Since using your Disney Reward Dollars can be a little tricky, be sure to plan your trip well in advance. This will provide sufficient time to receive your redemption card which you can load with your Disney Dollars to use when you’re at the park.

FAQs

You do need to have good to excellent credit for this card. Additionally, the card is subject to the Chase 5/24 rule. This means that regardless of your credit, if you’ve opened five new credit card accounts in the last 24 months, your application will be declined.

This card may not be a good idea if you want to maximize the rewards for your vacation plans, as there are reward cards that offer far more generous points or cash back.

The card is also not a good choice if you prefer an option with straightforward redemption options, as the Disney Visa can be a little complicated when it comes time to redeem your Reward Dollars.

The Disney Visa card does not offer car rental insurance coverage. If you want car rental insurance, you would need to upgrade to the Disney Premier Visa.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
