JetBlue is a low cost carrier that has established a reputation for low pricing without compromising on the customer experience.

Despite the modest pricing, you can still enjoy standard features that are not available on many carriers including complimentary snacks, free WiFi, in flight entertainment and more leg room.

What Is JetBlue Loyalty Program And Elite Status?

If you live near an airport that offers JetBlue flights, you could really benefit from their loyalty program. You can earn miles for JetBlue flights, with the number of points varying based on the fare class. Plus, with JetBlue Elite Status, you’ll earn even more miles, maximizing the value of your travel.

You’ll achieve Elite Status based on the amount of flying you do with JetBlue or your JetBlue Plus credit card spending habits. You can accumulate qualifying points, with a base rate of one point per dollar for basic fares and three points for other fares. There are two elite status tiers and once you qualify, it is valid for a full year.

What's New In 2024?

The JetBlue elite status will no longer be earned according to the number of qualifying points you earn. Instead, qualification is based on “tiles.” You’ll earn tiles in two ways:

  • One tile per $100 of qualifying JetBlue spending, including flights, vacation packages, cruises, rental cars and more.
  • One tile per $1,000 of qualifying spending on co-branded JetBlue credit cards.

You will earn tiles between January 1 and December 31.

Mosaic 2

Mosaic 3

Mosaic 4

The new “tiles” qualification makes it very easy for loyal customers to understand how to get JetBlue elite status, unlike other airlines such as Delta or United, where the eligibility depends on a combination of some parameters.

What is JetBlue Mosaic 1, 2, 3 & 4 Status?

With the new program, there are four levels of Mosaic status. The entry level is level one and you can earn this with 50 tiles.

The second elite status level is Mosaic 2. This can be earned with 100 tiles and in addition to the level one perks, you’ll get Even More Space seating when you book.

The third status level is Mosaic 3, which you can earn with 150 tiles. This adds four Mint Upgrade certificates

The top status level is Mosaic 4 and you can receive this with 250 tiles. In addition to the level 1, 2 and 3 perks, you’ll get:

  • Two additional Mint upgrade certificates
  • BLADE airport helicopter transfers: You can use these to enjoy four complimentary seats on BLADE on the Manhattan and JFK or Manhattan to EWR routes.

How to Earn Mosaic Tiles

The new Tiles currency makes it super simple to achieve elite status. There are two ways that you can earn Tiles.

1. JetBlue Purchases

You can earn one tile for every $100 when you purchase JetBlue flights, rental cars, cruises and vacation packages.

This is far more simple than the old “qualifying points” system, since you don’t earn a varying number of points according to your flight itinerary and fare. For example with the old system, you could earn far more points if you booked other fare classes and you would be penalized for booking basic fares.

However, with this new system, you’ll earn this rate of tiles, regardless of what fare class and itinerary you book. So, if you book a flight for $200, you’ll get two tiles.

2. JetBlue Co-Branded Credit Cards

If you don’t travel regularly, you can also achieve elite status with a JetBlue co-branded credit card. You’ll earn one tile for every $10,000 spent on your card. The card options include:

  • JetBlue Card: This card has no annual fee and a tiered TrueBlue reward structure. You earn up to three points per dollar, weighted towards JetBlue purchases, but you can still earn decent points on grocery store purchases, restaurants, with a base rewards rate for all other purchases.
  • JetBlue Plus Card: This card has a generous TrueBlue point bonus with a modest spending requirement, but you will also need to pay the $99 annual fee in full within 90 days. However, the tiered reward structure is more generous than the JetBlue card, as there is a potential to earn up to six points per dollar, weighted towards JetBlue purchases, eligible grocery stores and restaurants.
  • JetBlue Business Card: This business card has a $99 annual fee and offers a TrueBlue points bonus and a statement credit for your first year’s annual fee if you meet the spending requirement in the first 90 days. The reward structure is tiered with categories including JetBlue purchases, office supply stores and restaurants, with a base rewards rate for all other purchases.

How to Check Your Progress Towards Elite Status

With the new system, tracking your progress towards the elite status levels has never been easier. You don’t need to keep track of how many tiles you’ve earned from your JetBlue purchases or co-branded credit card spending.

Once the new program is live, you can log into your JetBlue account anytime to check your tile tracker. It updates each time you earn more tiles, making it easy to keep track of your progress—especially if you’re aiming to get the most out of your elite status perks. The dashboard will also display your current Mosaic level and the benefits you’re eligible for.

Since you can enjoy the elite status benefits for the remainder of your qualifying year and the full following year, you should aim to qualify as quickly as possible after January 1.

JetBlue also has an app for iOS and Android devices, which can be used to track your flights and reservations, but you can also use the app to track your elite status information.

What Do You Get With JetBlue Mosaic?

For the first time, you can earn elite like perks before you qualify for Mosaic status. What’s more, you can pick and choose the perks you receive via the Perks You Pick program.

The benefits of this level include:

  • Free first two checked bags
  • One complimentary alcoholic beverage per flight, with a choice of liquor, wine or beer
  • Same day flight changes
  • Priority check in
  • Priority security
  • Even More Space seating at check in
  • Mosaic boarding
  • Dedicated phone support
  • Priority chat assistance
  • Complimentary Heathrow Express upgrades

Pick A Perk When You Reach 10, 20, 30 Or 40 Tiles

When you pass each milestone of 10,20, 30 and 40 tiles, you can choose a perk from this list:

  • Priority security– available at numerous airports
  • Early boarding– unless you have a Blue Basic fare, you can board with Group B
  • Free alcoholic drink: you’ll get one complimentary alcoholic beverage on each flight, with a choice of wine, liquor or beer.
  • Bonus points: You’ll get a TrueBlue balance boost with 5,000 bonus points
  • Vacations bonus: You’ll earn 2x points on one JetBlue Vacations package.

Additional Perks When You Pass Status Thresholds

In addition to Mosaic elite status benefits, elite members can pick a Perks You Pick benefit each time they pass status thresholds. This provides the potential to receive up to four additional benefits including:

  • Pet fee waiver: You can travel with your pet with no additional charge. This typically costs $125 for each flight, creating the potential to save hundreds of dollars.
  • FoundersCard Blue Membership: You’ll receive 150 plus premium lifestyle, business and travel benefits.
  • A 20 Tile Bonus: You can receive a tile bonus that can make it easier to hit the next elite level
  • 15,000 Bonus Points: This can give your points balance a boost
  • Statement Credit: You can get a one time $99 statement credit on a JetBlue Plus or Business card.
  • Mint Suite Priority: This benefit will only begin later in 2023, but it provides priority access to Mint Suite on select aircraft.

What Do You Get With JetBlue Mosaic 2, 3 and 4 Levels?

The Basic Mosaic status gets you most of the benefit, but you can get some premium ones if you reach higher status:

  • Mosaic 2. In addition to the level one perks, you’ll get Even More Space seating when you book – Up to 7” more legroom at no extra charge during booking on every JetBlue-operated flight (pending availability).
  • Mosaic 3:  This adds 4 certificates that let you book in back, then move to Mint at no extra charge
  • Mosaic 4: in addition to the level 1, 2 and 3 perks, you’ll get:
    • Two additional Mint upgrade certificates
    • BLADE airport helicopter transfers: You can use these to enjoy four complimentary seats on BLADE on the Manhattan and JFK or Manhattan to EWR routes.

However, you can find less attractive options for the highest levels compared to other airline companies, such as  Southwest which offers the Companion Pass Status.

What is JetBlue Status Match?

JetBlue does not offer a status match as you may find with other airlines. However, if you have American Airlines elite status, you can enjoy some JetBlue benefits via the Northeast Alliance partnership between these airlines.

Is JetBlue Mosaic Worth It?

There are a few things that you will need to consider to determine whether JetBlue Mosaic is worth it for you. These include:

  • How Much You Travel: If you qualify for Mosaic, you will enjoy the benefits for the remainder of that year and the entirety of the following year. So, you will need to think about your future travel plans. If you’re pushing hard to achieve elite status, you’ll need to know that you’ll get the most out of your perks when you travel during the following year.
  • JetBlue Presence in Your Area: It is important to check whether JetBlue has a presence in your area. The focus cities for JetBlue are Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and San Juan in Puerto Rico. If you live near one of these cities, achieving JetBlue status could be a great option for you.
  • JetBlue’s Route Network: The route network for JetBlue is largely domestic, but there are some routes to London and Latin America. So, if you frequently travel outside these areas, you’ll not get the most benefit from Mosaic elite status.
  • Would JetBlue Credit Cards Benefit You? One of the easiest ways to work towards elite status is with a co-branded airline credit card. So, you’ll need to consider if one of these cards would benefit you. Several co-branded credit cards offer rewards, but they are all weighted toward JetBlue purchases. This means you’ll need to consider how useful a JetBlue credit card would be for you.
  • Do You Fly With American Airlines? Even if you don’t fly JetBlue regularly, if you typically use American Airlines, Mosaic status could greatly benefit you. There is a partnership between these two airlines and you can enjoy reciprocal elite status benefits.
