For example, if you were looking to book a room at the Hyatt House LA location in Manhattan Beach for five nights, you could pay 12,000 points per night for a standard room, or 20,000 points for a suite.
However, at the same location after Thanksgiving, the rate could drop down to 9,000 points for a standard room. With a cash room rate of $200 per night, this means that your points are worth 1.66 cents each before Thanksgiving and 2.22 cents each at the off peak rate.

How to Redeem Hyatt Points for Free Nights
Using your Hyatt points to book free hotel nights represents the best redemption value. The Hyatt program has eight award categories; one through to eight. The point prices for a standard room per night varies from 5,000 points to 40,000 points, depending on the location, date of your stay and other factors.
However, you can also explore the Hyatt award chart for the rates for suites and club rooms. 1. Search Hotels On Hyatt Website
On the website, you’ll find all the information about the loyalty program; this is also where you can find award stays.
Then, enter your search details. You should see a search bar at the top of the web page. Enter your destination, stay dates and number of rooms. Just remember to tick “use points” on the search bar.
2. Browse the Room Deals
The search results will show all available room options, from standard rooms to suites. You can view room details, and by toggling between “view rates” and “view points,” you’ll see both the cash price and the points cost for each option.
If you have some flexibility with your stay dates, you can use the points calendar to check if prices vary on different days or weeks around your original dates. Plus, there’s a link to the hotel’s website if you want more information about the property.
3. Choose Hotel Room And Payment Structure
In the next step, you choose your room type. You can upgrade your room for additional points. Then, you need to decide whether you want to redeem all points or combine cash and points as payment.
4. Confirm Your Booking
If you decide that you want to go ahead and book your room, you simply need to click the appropriate deal. You’ll be prompted to log into your World of Hyatt account.
You can then complete the booking form with the visitor information and make any necessary payment.
How to Redeem Hyatt Points for Experiences
While booking a room provides the best redemption value for your Hyatt points, you can also use them for experiences. World of Hyatt offers access to a variety of experiences including local inspired tours in many cities where there is a Hyatt location.
One area where you can use your points is with dining, and spa experiences. You can use your points to enjoy breakfast in bed, a hot stone massage or any number of dining or spa experiences at participating locations even if you’re not actually spending the night.

For those looking to use their points in more unique ways, check out the Find Experiences section. This part of the program offers over 200 experiences in more than 50 destinations worldwide. From horseback riding in the desert and taking selfies with wolves to learning the art of sushi making, there’s a wide range of exciting activities to choose from.
You can earn points when you purchase experiences or use your points to pay for an experience. You don’t even need to take the experience for yourself, as you can gift it to family or friends.
Unfortunately, the Find Experiences section has been limited after the 2020 pandemic, so you may not be able to find and book all the options, but you can expect an approximate redemption value of 1 to 1.5 cents per point.
How to Redeem Hyatt Points for Airline Transfers
If you don’t find a hotel deal to suit your requirements, there is an option to redeem your Hyatt points for airline fares.
Hyatt has partnership agreements with a number of airlines, so you can convert your points into airline miles. The list of available programs includes:
- British Airways Executive Club
- Air France-KLM Flying Blue
- Cathay Pacific
- American Airlines AAdvantage
- Delta Airlines SkyMiles
- United Airlines MileagePlus
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
Unfortunately, while convenient, this does not represent the best use of your Hyatt points. With most programs, you will need at least 5,000 points and you can usually expect a conversion rate of 2.5 points to one airline mile. This means that you’ll need to transfer 100,000 points to receive 10,000 miles.
If you do decide to go ahead and convert some or all of your Hyatt points, you’ll find a conversion link on the World of Hyatt page. You’ll need to log in and select “Convert Existing Points to Miles”.
The platform will guide you through the process, but you’ll need to indicate the number of points you want to convert and which airline loyalty program you want miles for.
How to Redeem Hyatt Points for Rental Cars
Hyatt has a partnership agreement with Avis to offer its member's car rental deals and the ability to redeem Hyatt points for rental cars. To do this, you’ll need to call World of Hyatt, and the representatives will discuss your requirements and if a rental car is available.
You can expect to pay approximately 6,000 Hyatt points per day for your car rental, subject to availability. This is only available at participating Avis locations and will provide an intermediate-sized vehicle.
Given that this type of rental deal is typically available for $80 or less, depending on the specific vehicle and location, you’re getting a point redemption rate of 1.33 cents each or less. This is well below the rates you can expect when you book a room, making it a poor use of your points.
In fact, with Hyatt's partnership with Avis, you can secure a rental for up to 25% off the base rate and earn 500 bonus points when you pay cash. So, there is no real advantage to using your Hyatt points for rental cars.
Other Ways to Redeem Your Hyatt Points
If none of the above redemption methods appeal to you, there are some other ways to redeem your Hyatt points. These include:
- Room Upgrades: If you’ve paid for a Hyatt stay, you can use your Hyatt points to upgrade your room. The points needed to upgrade your hotel experience will depend on the room you’ve booked and the upgrades.
For example, if you want to upgrade to a Grand Club or Regency Club room, it will cost approximately 3,000 points per night, but it can cost 6,000 to 9,000 points per night to upgrade to suites. While this may cost the same as booking a standard room with your points, if you’re planning a special occasion, it can be a good use of your Hyatt points.
- Lindblad Expeditions: Hyatt has a partnership with Lindblad Expeditions where you can redeem your Hyatt points for most sailings. Hyatt states that these redemptions start at 174,000 points per person, but most packages cost more. For example, a five night Wild California Escape costs approximately 200,000 points per person.
- Resort Packages: You can use your points for Miraval and MGM resort packages. Hyatt has recently added seven new resorts to its all inclusive resort line up. The awards are priced according to Hyatt’s all inclusive award chart, with resorts categorized from A to F. The required points per night starts at 12,000 points for a standard room, but a premium suite can cost up to 115,000 points per night.
